Striking scenery

This utilitarian outfit was chosen to go with
a most impressive backdrop.

What could be more breathtaking than an abandoned slate mine?

The grey and khaki tones of the outfit blended in
with the piles of jagged rocks and gravel.

Broken metal railway tracks leading into a watery pool
contrast feminine touches of sheer fabric,
a belt at the waist and a bow in my hair.

The military style boots and androgynous shapes
give a stonger edge to the outfit.

Shafts of bright light gave a wonderfully eerie quality to the photographs

Outfit:
Sheer khaki shirt from Paris, stripy T-shirt, tailored trousers, black boots.

Accessories:
Bow clasp belt, scarf in hair.

Denim dream

Here is a countryside-inspired outfit for once,
with some urban styling.

What better thing to wear for a walk through the fields,
than a battered pair of dungarees.

Their slouchy shape meant that the outfit required some feminine touches
- a floral top and jewellry -
whilst the plaits give a childlike element.

The clear blue sky sets the photos off perfectly.

Outfit:
Vintage dungarees, floral top, lace-up pumps, spotty wellies.

Accessories:
Gold brach necklace, green ring,
 khaki scarf (tucked in pocket).

Unexpected photo opportunity

Sometimes you can stumble across somewhere amazing
when you are least expecting to.

A drive through the countryside on an overcast day produced some incredible backdrops,
such as this grand viaduct.

Overgrown weeds, cracked walls and dusty windows
of derelict buildings on the side of the road,
reflected the khaki outfit I was wearing.

This simple outfit allows the backdrop to be the focus
and brings all the subdued colours together.

Outfit:
Khaki jumper dress, slim jeans, black lace-up boots.

Accessories:
Clock-face necklace (made by myself), vintage handbag.

Walk along the prom

Brightly coloured clothes look fabulous for a sunny seaside walk.

Nautical stripes are essential for any seaside outfit,
such as the print on this skirt.

This knotted cardie (actually a top worn backwards)
goes perfectly with the high-waisted skirt.

Scraped back hair, a silk scarf and canvas shoes complete the look.

Outfit:
Navy cardie, blue top, vintage printed skirt, red plimsolls.

Accessories:
Vintage silk scarf,
handmade button bracelet made by myself.

Printed birds and wooden doors

A quirky statement piece requires an equally unusual backdrop.

The eccentric door-knocker and studded wooden door
make a fabulously theatrical setting.

The birds on this sheer printed blouse look lovely
dressed down with cropped jeans.

The ensemble is finished off with a fish-tail plait.

Outfit:
Canary blouse, cropped jeans, navy ballet pumps.

The girl in green

Various leafy shades makes the ultimate bright green outfit.

A woodland stream background adds more greens to the pallate.

A full circle skirt and knotted shirt make a great 50s shape.

Outfit:
Vintage spotted green shirt, striped T-shirt,
printed circle skirt, black lace-up shoes.

Accessories:
Vintage star brooch and green handbag.

Floral blues

Long, flowing skirts make me think of hot summer days.

The mix of floral patterns look at home in this field,
with the tall seeded grasses reflecting the thin pleats of the skirt.

Both of these garments came from 'Her Citi' in Maryport,
a fabulous shop that I frequently visit.

Outfit:
Printed blue floral T-shirt, long pleated floral skirt.
